What to Eat for Mood, Memory, and Digestion

About This LIVE Training

Your gut and your brain are in constant conversation. What you eat has a major influence on this conversation.

Dr. Emeran Mayer has spent four decades studying that conversation — both as a practicing gastroenterologist and as one of the researchers who helped establish that the microbes in your digestive tract influence mood, cognition, and how you feel day to day.

In this free live session, he’ll take that research and make it practical: what the brain-gut connection actually is, how it shows up as mood, memory, and digestion, and what role your food plays in it.

What you’ll learn:

  • The connection itself — How your gut and brain actually talk to each other: the nerve pathways, the microbes, and why the traffic runs in both directions. The foundation everything else rests on.
  • Mood — What your gut microbes have to do with how you feel, why “gut feeling” turns out to be more literal than the phrase suggests, and the dietary patterns associated with better outcomes.
  • Memory — What the research shows about diet and cognitive aging: where the evidence is strong, where it’s still emerging, and what that means for how you eat in your 40s, 50s, and beyond.
  • Digestion — Why microbiome diversity matters more than any single “superfood,” what actually feeds a healthy gut ecosystem, and why the answer is mostly food and a positive mindset rather than pills.
  • What to eat — The practical core of the session: the plant-forward Mediterranean pattern Dr. Mayer builds from, the role of polyphenols, why quality and freshness change what a food delivers, and what he keeps in his own kitchen.
  • What to be skeptical of — How to read a health claim, what “clinically studied” does and doesn’t mean, and where the gut health market oversells.
  • The framework — An introduction to The Mayer Model, the system Dr. Mayer has built across his clinical career, and how to use it.
